Spirits super-brand, Rémy Cointreau UK Distribution Limited, has signed a two-year distribution deal with a rising name in the UK domestic distribution scene.
Macintyre Scott Xtra (MSX), has had a firm hold on the travel retail market for the last 40 years, counting Diageo, Moet Hennessy and Mondelez International among its brands. Over the last two years it has steadily made its mark in the domestic market and has now fought off stiff competition from some of the industry’s most established names to score a contract with Rémy Cointreau’s UK distribution arm.
Under the deal, MSX will warehouse the entire range of Rémy Cointreau’s domestic distribution stock for the UK and deliver to the likes of Tesco, Asda, Sainsbury’s and Morrisons.
It marks the latest step in MSX’s entry into the UK retail market and follows its appointment to provide domestic distribution for Stock International last year.
Among the product lines MSX will warehouse are cognacs Rémy Martin, Louis XIII and Cointreau, Bruichladdich single malt whisky, The Botanist gin, Mount Gay rum and Passoa liqueur.
The products will be imported into the UK by sea, via the ABP Port of Southampton, and stored under bond at the MSX warehouse in Hampshire.
The contract will also see MSX contract pack a selection of domestic retail exclusives for the brand, a service MSX already offers to its extensive list of brand owner clients including Stock International, Mars and Maxxium and Jagermeister.
The Rémy Cointreau stock within the MSX warehouse will see products dispatched daily and transported to retailers and supermarkets, including the country’s “big 4”.
Managing partner of MSX, Nicola Ridges-Jones, said:
“We are delighted to provide warehousing and logistics for Rémy Cointreau’s roster of highly respected brands. It’s a perfect partnership, with Rémy Cointreau, like us, putting innovation and quality at the top of the agenda.
“The impeccable service we have provided for Rémy Cointreau in travel retail over the last few years really allowed us to prove ourselves and we’re delighted to count this fantastic company among our clients.”
Paul Sanderson, Managing Director of Rémy Cointreau UK, added:
“Setting up a new model for domestic distribution was a huge step for us and one that meant we had to put our entire faith in one company to make sure our deliveries were made on time. I needn’t have worried and the service has been excellent, issue-free and truly flexible.”
