He’s the man working behind the scenes to ensure every item at Macintyre Scott Xtra’s (MSX) bustling warehouse is in its right place. And this month he’s been named the best of the best because he’s picked up the company’s coveted employee achievement award.
Leo Poulter, 32, has been congratulated for his exceptional dedication to providing MSX’s customers with the best service. While his work is often behind the scenes, his innovation and drive to improve procedures has positive effects that can be felt by customers.
Leo joined the company in 2005 as a warehouseman and quickly rose through the ranks. He now works as MSX’s HMRC (Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs) compliancy officer and is responsible for the goods receipted, making sure they are correct, booked into the system and that all their associated paperwork is in place. It’s a vital role; if items are not checked correctly customers could encounter stock errors later down the line or even face fines.
Thanks to Leo’s meticulous eye for detail, this is a scenario MSX’s customers don’t have to worry about.
Another important element of his job is making sure MSX’s HMRC procedures are correct. Judges of the employee achievement award commended his work refining the company’s processes to streamline systems and save time. They also applauded his introduction of HMRC guides for the company in the form of easy-to-read booklets.
Nicola Ridges-Jones, managing director of MSX, said: “This is another example of the way in which Leo doesn’t just meet the everyday challenges head on, but is always willing to go the extra mile. We have a mantra that working with MSX should be simple and make customers’ lives easier. Leo embodies this mantra, helping us to deliver a service that is always impeccable and on-time.”
Leo added: “I feel honoured to have won the award. Everyone here works really hard so to be singled out among them is a great feeling. MSX is a good company to work for and the fact we’re such a close team makes us even better at what we do.”
